The mice, which were genetically modified to develop the beta-amyloid deposits and eventually the disease itself, were exposed to a cell phone antenna over a period of time. The mice that were genetically disposed to Alzheimer’s but had not yet developed it maintained their cognitive abilities. Those who had already slipped into full rodent dementia actually regained their abilities and performed as well on cognitive tests as the mice who had never developed the disease.

Further tests are needed, and the benefits took months to become apparent in the mice, but researchers are optimistic that the experiments could lead to a viable treatment for humans.
